In search of the truth regarding her late mothers life, Lily (Dakota Fanning) escapes her father and police and heads to a South Carolina town noted on one of her late mother’s few remaining possessions. In tow is her caretaker and friend Rosaleen (Jennifer Hudson). There they meet the Boatwright sister, including: the oldest and head of the home August (Queen Latifah) who runs a successful bee farm, June (Alicia Keys) a music teacher and NAACP activist, and the slightly off tilt sister May (Sophie Okonedo). Though the sisters don’t agree, they invite Lily and Rosaleen into their home. Offering not only shelter but life lessons in beekeeping, love and family.
