B.O.P.E. is a Brazilian Military Police special force and it is proudly a righteous and honest force, contrarily to many corrupt police forces. It is also the most difficult to enter and the most violent on action. “Tropa de Elite”, which could be roughly translated as "Elite Force" tells us the story of Captain Nascimento (Wagner Moura), a B.O.P.E. captain, as he faces the dilemma of choosing who will replace him in the near future, when he retires from the force due to family matters. Captain Nascimento trains the new recruits on a tremendously hard training, and narrows down its choice to two men: Neto (Caio Junqueira) and André Matias (André Ramiro). Eventually, one stands out as the right choice, but he still has to show he deserves the position, during a real B.O.P.E. operation on one of the “favelas” in Rio De Janeiro.
