Based on a true story, Passchendaele depicts one man's story during the battle of the same name, Ypres, Belgium. Michael Dunne (Paul Gross) returns home from the front lines to server as a recruiter. The soldier suffers severe psychological problems, after serving in many major World War 1 battles. Ridiculed by the locals as a coward and a deserter, Dunne falls in love with military nurse Sarah Mann (Caroline Dhavernas). The nurse’s younger brother David (Joe Dinicol) desperately wants to serve his country overseas, but Dunne does everything in his power to keep him from enlisting. Upon failing from keeping the boy out of the army, Dunne re-enlists to protect the younger brother of his love.
